Scoliosis Discussion Groups on the Internet
Internet discussion groups can be helpful in getting advice and emotional support from others in your situation. Links to some of the better discussion groups are provided below, but please keep in mind these three notes of caution:

1. Advice you receive on the Internet is not necessarily sound medical advice and should not take the place of a consultation with a qualified orthopedist.

2. On the discussion groups you will inevitably find stories of surgeries gone wrong or about people who had terrible surgical complications. Please understand that the people who participate most actively in these groups are usually doing so precisely because they had problems with their treatments. In contrast, those who had successful outcomes have no particular motivation to participate. Do not be discouraged by the stories you encounter.

3. Too many people, unfortunately, seek to profit financially from those desperate to find an alternative to scoliosis surgery. These individuals frequently market their "miracle solutions" to these discussion groups, even though in many cases this is against the policy of the group. Be wary of claims that sound outlandish.
